(本文改编自优比客近期的一篇影评,希望这不会成为大家看过最无趣的电影评论。)

郎咸平教授的一本书中,曾把电影行业的本质,归结为「刺中观众的幻想神经」。如果说「变形金刚2」充分印证了这一论断的正确性,那么上周五刚刚在北美上映的「District 9」(第九区),则为我们展示了现代电影工业是如何在影院之外,继续大范围、凶狠地完成这一「刺中」使命的。

考虑到大多数朋友还没有机会一睹这部IMDB user rating高达8.8的影片芳容,本客不打算透露D9的详细剧情。这部典型的cult影片,大致描述了一个外星人造访地球,并于地球人和平但并非和睦相处的故事。作为本周的北美票房冠军,D9在取得巨大的商业成功同时,还在2万多名影迷的投票帮助下,位列IMDB历史最佳影片第31位。

简单地说,D9的本质,就是导演Neill Blomkamp(1979)对诞生于八、九十年代,成长在“虚拟世界”文化影响下新一代电影观众的致礼。

无论影片本身的叙事结构、拍摄方式、表达手法,还是事先的宣传和上映后的公众互动,都体现出D9制片方希望把观众带入影片中架空世界观的迹象。从数月前洛杉矶街头神秘警示标记引起的buzz,到今天Facebook上D9帐号10多万名fans的出现,再到影片中虚构的MNU公司网站每日数万人的访问量,可以说这个带入工作基本是成功的。

在D9中的主要角色之一,外星人Christopher的博客上,D9迷不仅能看到外星文,还学会了用外星文留言。值得一提的是,Christopher的第一篇博文,出现在2007年9月4日。他写道:

I am an outlander working in District 9. Surely you’ve heard of District 9, reader? It is very real. I am very real.

Call me “Christopher.”

I am one of the thousands of outlanders who are exploited and mistreated by the MNU Corporation – and by extension the government and the entire world. I implicate you in my suffering.

What are you going to do about it?

这充分说明整个D9的运作,是制片方策划已久的一场商业“阴谋”。

相信WOW玩家对D9世界观的设定,以及外星人丑陋的面貌、古怪的语言不会陌生。而外星武器强大的杀伤力和血肉横飞的临场使用效果,伴随Doom成长的电玩一代也会觉得熟悉。是的,这部电影就是为他们而生。是他们造就了这部电影,Blomkamp is one of them …

坦率地说,这部影片与社会意义、人类反思,甚至种族隔离无关。在故事设定的世界观中,要求人类与外星避难者相亲相爱,是不道德的。想想片中大部分外星人的可怕外表、怪异举止、暴力倾向,还有那个被捏造出的prolonged sexual activity桥段。。。很遗憾,这世界上不是什么都能假设的。问一个错误的问题,来挑战观众理性的底线,其实没有任何意义。

D9的真正价值,在于揭示了一个事实,那就是今天的“虚拟世界”subculture正在向明日的mainstream快速演进。D9的fans,也许很快就不再是生活在这社会角落的一群。他们会慢慢变老,可在上一代人眼里,他们将不再长大 – 这并非必要,因为世界已悄然改变。

而D9的现实意义,则更多体现在商业方面。如何利用新媒体和“虚拟世界”文化的影响力,达成与目标消费群体更紧密的联系,催生出“情感依赖”、“群体认同”等诸多极具杀伤力的营销武器,相信D9已经给了我们一个示范性答案。

结语:如今的Sci-Fi影片已经越来越与科学无关了。在这个Sci-Free-Fi的时代,真不知道还有什么能禁锢导演编剧们的想象力。
